Cedar tone Machine

  1. Receive lumber at the grading station, cutting and removing bands.
  2. Process material by “appearance grading” before cedar toning, discarding
  3. Maintain production by stacking graded material in the jig.
  4. Discard improperly stained material. 
  5. Communicate quality problems, band, and make tags.
  6. Assist Cedartone Technician in correcting in-process stain application problems.

Cleanup

  1. Organize work area removing block stacks, bands, and debris.
  2. Operate band chopper for banding and trash compactor for paper wrap (fold or roll).
  3. Sort wood boxes for useable lath, corners, blocks, and the like to established standards.     
  4. Sort and stack all dunnage/blocks by length and like material characteristics. 
  5. Manually remove the paper wrap and staples from the material provided by the Infeed Forklift Operator.
  6. General manufacturing support as time allows or as directed.

Paper wrap

  1. Paper wrap material by tacking paper, stapling, and cutting paper wrap.
  2. Print tags as required.
  3. Assist in the clean-up of incidental drippage and proper waste storage.  
  4. Routine housekeeping/clean-up of daily debris from positions worked.

Bander/Tagger

  1. Perform daily pre-shift startup equipment checks for one’s workstation as required.  Immediately report safety concerns to maintenance.
  2. Operate, clean, and/or adjust equipment (bander, banding infeed roller, tag printer as needed) based on product requirements, changeovers, and optimal manufacturing speed.
  3. Determine proper block length for material and communicate to the Outfeed Forklift Operator.
  4. Band material.  Slide block under unit, place bander on unit, insert and secure band end into bander, pull overhead loop banding and feed into side of bander, pull taunt, slip corner protectors under banding, seal banding, feed band end into overhead banding infeed roller, tag and repeat.
  5. Enter product identification information into the computer via keyboard, checking the correctness of the product, piece count, length, and print tag.
  6. Maintain quality controls by ensuring corner protectors, banding, blocking, and inventory tag/s are properly placed, aligned, and secured based on product requirements.
  7. Apply a warranty tag to the end of all lumber using a pneumatic stapler.
